The first minutes
Right now one thing counts: leave it switched off.
While the wrong fuel sits in the tank, the job is usually a plain one. It grows harder as soon as the pump has carried it into the lines, the filter and the injection system.
Keep the ignition off
Do not crank it and do not turn the key — that alone is enough to set the fuel pump running.
Make the car safe
Push it, do not drive it. Let the filling station staff know, and put out the warning triangle if the car stands on a road.

Petrol poured into a diesel
The high pressure pump relies on diesel for lubrication, petrol gives none. If the engine runs, metal particles can be carried through the whole system.
Diesel poured into a petrol car
Usually the gentler of the two. Diesel burns poorly in a petrol engine, so spark plugs and catalytic converter can suffer.

Pump out, rinse through, carry on.
1 · Pump out
Everything in the tank comes out; on newer cars through the filler neck, with the tank left in place.
2 · Rinse
Lines and filter are rinsed so that nothing of the wrong fuel is left in the system.
3 · Fill up
The right fuel goes in. Usually you can set off again under your own power.
4 · Dispose
The mixture travels back with us and goes to proper disposal as hazardous waste.

Only a few litres went in. Can I fill up with the right fuel and drive on?
No. Even a few litres of diesel inside a petrol car, or petrol inside a diesel, shift the mixture far enough that the pump, the injection system or the catalytic converter can suffer. Filling up on top only spreads it further. Leave the engine off and have the tank emptied.
Can I talk to you in English?
By phone we speak German and Russian. In English please write to us over WhatsApp — the answer comes in English.
What does it cost?
As a rough guide a call-out runs from 150 to 600 euros, depending on the work and the distance; value added tax is contained in that figure. The exact price is named by phone before we drive out, and it holds as long as we find the situation you described.
How quickly can you be here?
Inside the Berlin city area mostly within the hour. That is a value from experience and not a commitment: at night, with several jobs waiting or further out it takes longer. We run one service vehicle, so it also depends on where that vehicle happens to be. By phone we say when we can realistically reach you.
I already drove a stretch. Am I too late?
No, though it is pressing now. Pull over, switch off and ring us. The less time the engine ran, the better the chance that pumping out and rinsing is enough.
Will the car be towed away?
In most cases it will not. We work at the vehicle itself — at the filling station, on a safe car park or in a yard.
Does insurance pay for this?
Depending on your policy, a fully comprehensive motor insurance or a breakdown cover package can step in. Keep the receipt from the filling station and our invoice.
